Report: West Ham now decide they want to sign Leeds player to replace Declan Rice

West Ham United have made an approach to Leeds United regarding midfielder Tyler Adams.

That is according to the Daily Mail, who report Adams is among a host of players West Ham have enquired about in their search for Declan Rice’s replacement.

Rice is on the verge of becoming the most expensive English football of all time with Arsenal and West Ham close to agreeing a £105 million deal to take him to the Emirates.

This summer has long been touted as the ideal time for Rice to step up in his career, and with the move now close to completion, West Ham are very much in the market for midfielders.

It is said David Moyes could target multiple players in order to replace the skillset of Rice, with Leeds’ Adams among those West Ham are keeping an eye on.

West Ham target Adams in search of Rice replacement

Adams is attracting interest from a host of Premier League clubs following Leeds’ relegation, with Aston Villa, Brighton and Nottingham Forest also potential destinations.

The 24-year-old would help replace Rice’s ability to win possession back, though West Ham would also need to add some real quality on the ball around him if they were to make a move.

Despite relegation, Adams was one of Leeds’ best players last season and as such, is one of only a handful of players from the Whites’ squad Premier League sides are actually interested in.

That said, San Francisco 49ers Enterprises have earmarked Adams as a player Leeds want to build their promotion push around next season, alongside the likes of Wilfried Gnonto and Max Wober.

Leeds are said to want to sit down and hold talks with Adams in order to persuade him to stay, with the USMNT captain among the players set to return for the first round of pre-season testing next week.
