Wilfried Gnonto is considering staying at Leeds United this summer as he is not sold on the idea of moving to Everton.

That is according to talkSPORT, who report Everton have already began drawing up a list of potential alternatives in the event they are unable to agree a deal with Leeds.

As per the shortlist, former Leicester City loanee Tete is said to be among them, who is back at Shakhtar Donetsk after he did not move to the Foxes permanently due to their relegation.

Everton have been chasing a deal for Gnonto throughout the summer and reportedly saw a £15 million bid turned down a couple of weeks.

Since then, the Toffees are yet to return with a new offer but talks are still ongoing as the 19-year-old remains one of Sean Dyche’s top targets for reshaping their attack.

As has been widely reported, San Francisco 49ers Enterprises are keen to keep Gnonto at Leeds this season and are not prepared to let him go on the cheap.

Gnonto has four years left to run on his deal that does not include a relegation release clause, putting Leeds in a strong position to negotiate.

However, that has not stopped Everton from making their move for Gnonto though they are yet to have any success in their pursuit.

Everton have already brought in Arnaut Danjuma on loan this summer who plays a similar position to Gnonto and the fact they are now looking at alternatives should be music to Leeds fans’ ears.

As mentioned, Shakhtar’s Tete is among those to have been linked, while Juventus’ Samuel Iling-Junior has also been mentioned as a target by the Italian press.
