There is now a ‘strong chance’ Leeds United will complete a deal for Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara.
That is according to Phil Hay, who says Leeds want to add another midfielder on top of Werder Bremen’s Ilia Gruev, who is closing in on a move to Elland Road.
Gruev is set to undergo a medical at Leeds ahead of a proposed £5 million switch from the German side, but is not likely to be the final addition to Daniel Farke’s midfield options.
As per Hay, Leeds are looking at Old Firm duo Matt O’Riley and Kamara, with interest having been in the latter throughout the summer.
With less than 36 hours to go until the window shuts, though, Hay says it is more likely that Kamara follows Gruev to West Yorkshire, rather than O’Riley.
‘Strong chance’ Leeds now sign Kamara
As mentioned, Leeds have been monitoring the situation of Kamara throughout the summer, but for whatever reason, are yet to push the button on a deal.
A deal for Kamara has been there to do for several weeks now, with the 27-year-old having been frozen out at Rangers.
Reading between the lines, it feels like Leeds have kept a deal at arms length for Kamara for several weeks now, with the potential of moving for other targets as apposed to him.
Leeds are interested in signing O’Riley but a deal looks extremely difficult to get done with Celtic reluctant to let one of their most prized assets depart.
If a move for O’Riley fails to come off as expected, then there is a ‘strong chance’ Leeds green light a move for Kamara to bolster their midfield options.
