Crysencio Summerville is expected to leave Leeds United this summer.
That is according to Phil Hay, who was speaking on the latest episode of the Square Ball Podcast, where he revealed his expectation of a Summerville departure this summer, as well as Jack Harrison.
Summerville put pen-to-paper on a new four-year deal at Leeds 12 months ago, though it is unclear whether or not it includes a relegation release clause.
The 21-year-old has already been linked with a host of new clubs, with Aston Villa, Everton, Feyenoord and PSV all having been mentioned as potential destinations.
According to the Daily Telegraph, Leeds are set to demand £12 million for Summerville, who enjoyed a breakthrough campaign at Elland Road last term, with Micah Richards hailing him as a ‘brilliant’ young talent.
Hay expects Summerville to leave Leeds
Summerville is among the group of internationals set to return to Leeds for pre-season on July 10, having represented Netherlands at the U21s EUROs in Georgia.
He was twice asked about his future while on duty with the Dutch where on each occasion he remained coy, but Hay is expecting Summerville to be someone who departs.
He said: “They probably have largely what they need already [out wide]. I think Summerville will leave. I think the odds probably say that Harrison will get an offer that Leeds had to take at some point.
“Perhaps not but that’s kind of how it feels it is. There are clubs looking at him like Everton and others.”
According to reports from 1908.nl, Summerville is keen to leave as he aims to make Netherlands’ senior squad for the EUROs next summer.
However, if the reported price of £12 million is indeed correct then Leeds are undoubtedly undervaluing him, with Summerville more than proving how good he is at times last season.
At 21, Summerville is the type of player Leeds need to be keeping, but if they are open to letting him leave, then a fee in excess of £20 million is more representative of his quality.
