Following relegation to the Championship, Leeds United and The 49ers were tasked with hiring a new manager and while Daniel Farke eventually got the job, many were interviewed.
Daniel Farke has since surpassed 70 games as Leeds manager in all competitions with the German doing well, earning 90 points and a trip to Wembley last season and then 42 points from 21 games this term.
Farke may have his critics but you cannot doubt the numbers. Farke is even outperforming Marcelo Bielsa in the Leeds hotseat, just without reward. Promotion, and all of those concerns will vanish into thin air.
But Farke was not the only manager that Leeds considered. The managers of promotion rivals West Brom, Sunderland and Burnley – Carlos Corberan, Regis Le Bris and Scott Parker – were all linked back in 2023.

Patrick Vieira could finally get to manage £10m Leeds player
Patrick Vieira was another. Having left Crystal Palace, the Arsenal legend was out of work and was keen to join Leeds. Indeed, former New York City and Nice boss Vieira held talks about taking over at Leeds.
But The Whites chose to go with a manager that had won the Championship on two previous occasions. Meanwhile, Vieira has since taken over at Serie A side Genoa and remains unbeaten in his four matches.
Genoa have just been subject of a takeover and will have money to spend in January. It emerged this week that Genoa are interested in signing Patrick Bamford, one of two clubs interested in the Leeds man.

What are the chances of Patrick Bamford leaving in January?
Given £40k-a-week Bamford has way more than his fair share of injuries, the chances of him going late into his thirties is unlikely. So, the Leeds striker will not want to waste a year warming the bench at Leeds.
That’s what he’s doing at the moment. No Championship starts this season for Bamford and prior to the interest from Genoa, it was said Leeds were preparing to lose Bamford in January by eyeing replacements.
Louie Barry and Dor Turgeman have been picked replacements for £10m Bamford. Wrexham and Genoa are keen on Bamford, but the report says League One side Wrexham won’t be able to afford his wages.
After a takeover and given they are a mid-table Serie A side currently sitting in 13th, Vieira’s Genoa have a chance of landing Bamford – and it will finally see Vieira get the chance to manage the Leeds ace.
