Patrick Bamford has shared what Luis Sinisterra told him “last night” after the Leeds United striker netted his third goal in three games in Saturday’s 3-0 win over Cardiff, while the duo were gaming.

Bamford flicked home our opener in Wales on the weekend as Leeds secured a third consecutive 3-0 win – after Bamford had also netted in wins over Birmingham City and Peterborough United, in the Cup.

It included a worldie against The Posh, a goal that has earned praise from the likes of Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer – and Tony Bellew. The latter said it was better than Diego Maradona’s ‘goal of the century’.

His form is keeping Joel Piroe out of the side, with the Dutchman struggling to replicate his best in the last few weeks. Georginio Rutter has moved into the 10 role and it is working, combining with Bamford.

Speaking on the latest episode of My Mate’s A Footballer podcast, Bamford shared how he has been gaming with Sinisterra – who is on loan at Bournemouth from Leeds – and how Sinisterra greeted him.

“Last night, I was gaming with Luis Sinisterra who is on loan at Bournemouth. First thing he says when he comes on the mic was ‘the man on fire’. I did say, ‘what did you say’, just so he had to repeat it.”

It is intriguing that Sinisterra is clearly still keeping an eye on Leeds results, enough to know that the Leeds no.9 was in excellent form. Bamford has been superb for Leeds and he needs to keep going.

What is playing into Bamford’s favour, is that Rutter is shining as a 10 – scoring his fifth of the season in the 3-0 win over Cardiff. Rutter is undroppable, and the connection between those two is working.

Right now, Bamford is one of the first picks in the side and he will surely start in front of Rutter up top on Sunday when Leeds play host to Preston. Hopefully, Leeds can make it four consecutive victories.
