Pascal Struijk will have only increased his status as a Leeds United hero after his brace against Sunderland.

It seems as though fans have just about calmed down now about last night, as Elland Road was at its very best against Sunderland.

Struijk was Daniel Farke’s saviour scoring in the 95th minute to gift Leeds all three points against the Black Cats.

Larry Nance Jr praised Struijk as the 49ers investor was a keen-eyed viewer over in America.

You’d think the two goals were brilliant, but what the Dutch defender did on Monday night speaks volumes as he has placed himself in the Whites’ history.

It was a formidable second-half performance by Farke’s side as in the end, a Leeds win was the only outcome from the game.

Joe Rothwell revealed Farke predicted Leeds’ goals, as he made the wise choice of subbing on the midfielder and Struijk in the 70th minute.

What Struijk achieved from his goals though was something never done before.

The Whites defender became the first Leeds player in history to come on as a substitute and score an equalising goal and a 90th+ minute winner, which will be a hard feat to match.

It was short but very sweet from Struijk who might have handed Leeds their biggest win of the season.

However, this could be topped next Monday when Leeds meet Sheffield United in a Championship title clash, but the Leeds boss might not be in the dugout after Stuart Atwell’s yellow for Farke was a ‘disgrace’.

But Struijk’s brilliance might eclipse how Farke feels about the ref’s actions, as it was a superb 20 minutes from the 25-year-old.

After the Dutchman has come off the bench in his last two appearances, surely he’s in line for a return to the starting lineup against the Blades on Monday.
