The Spanish media have heralded Pablo Hernandez’s ongoing revolution at Castellon as the Leeds United icon continues his brilliant start to life as a head coach.

Pablo Hernandez has made a dream start with Castellon, transforming his side from relegation candidates in the Spanish Second Division to play-off contenders.

The latest win over Deportivo La Coruna means Hernandez has steered Castellon to 26 points from his 11 games in charge, with 21 goals scored and just 11 conceded.

Hernandez previously shared the influence of Marcelo Bielsa on his coaching philosophy, having been part of the squad that won promotion from the Championship under the Argentinian legend.

Now, Hernandez has described Bielsa as the most influential coach of his career, after his influence at Castellon was described as a revolution.

Pablo Hernandez is overseeing Castellon ‘revolution’

Hernandez’s strong start to life with Castellon had already caught the eye of the Spanish press. However, the win over Deportivo La Coruna has taken that attention up a notch.

With Castellon now sitting fifth in the table, firmly in the play-off race, Diario AS proclaimed that Hernandez is overseeing a “revolution” with Los Albinegros.

Praising Hernandez’s game management, the publication praised his ability to change the game with his tactical switches, writing: “His ability to turn games around is evident in his strategic management of the team. In the victory against Las Palmas, the decisive goal came from Suero, who had only been on the pitch for four minutes.

“Similarly, in the match against Deportivo, all three goals were scored by players who entered the game during the match.

Speaking to Marca on the eve of Castellon’s win over Deportivo La Coruna, Hernandez took time to praise his former coach, Bielsa.

According to Hernandez, he arrived at Elland Road thinking he knew everything about football. However, his time with the Argentinian legend changed his view on how the game should be played.

Pablo Hernandez addresses a potential ‘dream’ Leeds United return

“Obviously, the clubs [Valencia and Leeds] that are so important to me would be a dream, but it is not something I am considering at the moment.

“First, I want to learn a lot, I have a lot to learn, see if this is what really fulfils me and what I like, and in the future, we will see that it holds.”

Hernandez said: “I’ve been lucky enough to have had some truly great coaches, and if I had to pick one who has influenced me the most, it would be Bielsa.

“He’s a top coach who gets the absolute best out of his teams and players. There are many things I’ve learned from him. When he arrived at Leeds, I was already in the final stages of my career and thought I knew everything there was to know about football, and he helped me take that extra step.

“Many of the things I see in football now I’ve picked up from him.”
