Jon Newsome has hailed Crysencio Summerville’s performance in Leeds United’s draw at Rotherham as ‘outstanding’.
Summerville was once again on the scoresheet for Leeds as he scored his seventh goal of the season and fifth in his last seven Championship starts.
However, his goal was not enough for Leeds to secure a seventh win in eight matches as Hakeem Odofin’s equaliser on the stroke of half-time earned the home side a draw.
Leeds were lacklustre for the majority of the 90 minutes after going ahead but speaking on BBC Radio Leeds after the match, Newsome believes Summerville was an exception to that.
The 22-year-old definitely looked the most likely to create something in the second half but Leeds were not able to find him in good positions enough.
Summerville the only spark for Leeds
Reflecting on the performance immediately after the match, Newsome says Summerville kept working hard to make stuff happen, hailing him as ‘outstanding’.
“In the second half, just watching Summerville walk off, I thought he was outstanding tonight and worked really hard.”
Summerville was the only spark for Leeds on the night with the rest of his attacking teammates way below their best.
Having been labelled a ‘major doubt’ before the game, Georginio Rutter did not look fully fit, while Joel Piroe was also on the periphery of proceedings for too often.
Dan James, meanwhile, hardly got in the game himself and it took the introduction of the likes of Willy Gnonto and Ian Poveda for Leeds to start doing anything.
