Real Betis president Angel Haro says his club are not interested in signing Leeds United man Junior Firpo, despite reports suggesting that Betis wanted to sign him – and, that Firpo is keen on a move.
The 27-year-old is back on the pitch after missing pre-season and every match until returning to the bench against Leicester. A sub then against Plymouth, before starting in the draw against Rotherham.
Foot Mercato say that Firpo is a target for Betis, who are planning a loan-to-buy deal for the left-back. It is also claimed that Firpo is keen to leave Leeds – with Betis’ left-back Juan Miranda a target for Milan.
Firpo of course, played for Betis before his move to Barcelona prior to joining Leeds. Marc Roca is on loan at Betis, so there is a connection there. But, Haro says Firpo is a player Betis are certainly fond of.
But, the Betis president – who has watched Roca’s side shine in both La Liga and the Europa League under Manuel Pellegrini this season – says that Firpo is not a target on a small list, despite liking him.
“The list is short, and I have not seen that name. He is a player that we are very fond of, he is a Betic youth player, but I already said that he is not on the table,” Haro said, as quoted by Spanish site Infobae.

It is a blow. Surely, all parties would love a move for Betis to sign our £13m man. Leeds would get him off the wage bill, Betis would have a replacement for Miranda and a player that knows the Spanish side well.
Firpo would get a move to a side where he played his best football, back in Spain with a club that are in Europe. It will be interesting to see what happens in January. Firpo has said he has rejecting offers.
