Crysencio Summerville has been one of a number of Leeds United stars producing the best season of their careers under Daniel Farke – and that has attracted interest from Premier League sides.

The 22-year-old is actually going through a bit of a dry spell by his standards this season, failing to score or assist in our last four Championship fixtures. He has 25 goals and assists in 36 appearances.

TeamTalk said this week that Summerville – who has also been linked with a senior Netherlands call-up – is a player that Chelsea are considering. Leeds are said to be feeling calm about keeping Summerville.

It may be a case of promotion will see Summerville stay put, but another season in the Championship will convince him to move on in the summer. Whether Chelsea is the right fit, remains to be seen.

Sky Sports commentator Don Goodman has told FLW that he does not believe Chelsea would be the right move for Summerville this summer – highlighting the competition the Blues have in that area.

“I can understand why he’s been linked to big clubs, he’s just having such a brilliant season, there’s no doubt about it. Over the years, I’ve watched players who are doing well and make wrong moves to the wrong teams for the wrong reasons, and at the moment, Chelsea is not a stable football club,” he said.

“They’re not a football club going anywhere fast at the moment. In terms of Summerville as a player, you look at who Chelsea have in his position, and you’ve got Mudryk, Palmer, Sterling, Madueke and Jackson who could play there, so would he get game time? Would he be playing week-in-week-out?”

You get the impression that Summerville will see his long-term future away from Elland Road. Certainly, he is a Premier League winger – and at 22, there will be interest in him given he is only going to improve.

Our no.10 has a contract at Leeds until 2026 and Phil Hay expects contract talks with the pocket-sized winger to open soon. Chelsea are unlikely to be the only club after Summerville come the summer.
