How Leeds United currently feel internally about keeping Crysencio Summerville beyond this season

Journalist Ben Jacobs has suggested that Leeds United are very calm about the future of Crysencio Summerville with the winger previously showing no interest in leaving Elland Road.

Crysencio Summerville has had an unbelievable season. The Dutchman was one of the better players in the Premier League last year. But – despite what Don Goodman may perhaps suggest – he was seemingly content to stay ahead of this campaign.

And Summerville has gone on to be arguably the best player in the Championship. The 22-year-old has scored 15 goals and provided eight assists in 30 games for Daniel Farke‘s side. Only three players have found the back of the net more often.

Leeds relaxed about keeping Crysencio Summerville

Some Leeds fans may have worried about whether keeping Summerville would prove to be a tough task in the January transfer window. But there did not appear to be a huge amount of speculation. And perhaps that is down to the winger himself being content where he is.

Speaking to Give Me Sport, Ben Jacobs has suggested that Summerville has had little interest in exploring the interest in him over the last 12 months.

“Everton, Bournemouth and Burnley have looked in the past, but nothing has ever advanced because Summerville had always indicated that he wanted to stay at Leeds during the summer and January,” he said.

“Leeds are very calm about the situation because they feel like the player is looking for stability and game time, and they can give him that.

“It’s perhaps a bit nervous for Leeds because they know that if they don’t go up, there will be an opportunity for interested clubs to revisit the situation. But I don’t think Summerville views it that way.”

Winger will be playing in top-flight next year

We have to be realistic. If Leeds do not go up this season, there is probably going to be another exodus. And Summerville is almost definitely going to attract some serious bids.

Like Georginio Rutter, Ethan Ampadu and a few others, he looks to be much too good for the Championship.

Summerville is surely going to be playing in the top-flight next season, one way or another. Hopefully, he is still wearing a Leeds kit as we look to re-establish ourselves back at English football’s top table.
