Ray Parlour has told TalkSPORT (Friday, 7.15AM) that Harry Redknapp would be an “unbelievable” appointment if Leeds United hire the experienced manager – with Redknapp reportedly telling Leeds he would be open to the job.

Leeds have given the reigns to Michael Skubala for the ‘upcoming fixtures’. Having sacked Jesse Marsch almost two weeks ago, Leeds have struggled to bring in a replacement. Managers do not want to join Leeds until the summer.

That is given, our perilous position in the table. The likes of Raul, Andoni Iraola, Carlos Corberan, Marcelo Gallardo, Ange Postecoglou, Arne Slot and more have rejected Leeds. Alfred Schreuder was in the stands last Sunday.

But, Leeds decided not to bring him in after fan backlash. So, Leeds are stuck. They confirmed in a statement this week that Skubala would remain as caretaker boss for the next few games. But, they are still looking for a manager.

The club is open to an interim manager. The Mirror claim Redknapp is keen to come out of retirement and take over at Leeds until the summer. He last worked in 2017, at Birmingham City. Parlour gave his take on Redknapp joining.

“That would be unbelievable. He would get the best out of players. He would have good coaching staff around him as well. Sometimes it’s not all about coaching, it’s about man-management. Harry is top-class at that, top class.”

Parlour: Redknapp an unbelievable appointment if Leeds hire manager

Peter Crouch has since joked on Twitter that he is cleaning his boots, ready to return if Redknapp gets the job. Aaron Lennon’s verdict in 2008 shows that as Parlour says, Redknapp would get the best out of the Leeds squad.

But let’s make it clear. Redknapp is not going to get the job. He is a well-liked name in the footballing community – but he has not managed for six years and Leeds need stability. As things stand, Skubala could remain for a while.
