New twist emerges in Leeds United pursuit to sign Joe Rodon permanently from Tottenham

Leeds United will obviously be desperate to keep Joe Rodon beyond the end of his loan spell from Tottenham – and a new twist has emerged in our pursuit of a deal, with Rodon’s stance emerging.

The 26-year-old has been on fire for Leeds this season, already clocking up a huge 38 games for the Whites – helping us keep 17 clean sheets in that time. He admitted he’d love to play for us in the top tier.

But that of course, left the door open for the possibility of Leeds missing out on Rodon if we failed to gain promotion. Something, though, which looks increasingly likely after Callum O’Dowda’s Cardiff goal.

Mystery Premier League clubs are said to be on the lookout for Rodon given how well he has played for Leeds. But now, TeamTalk say that regardless of what league we’re in, Rodon wants to join permanently.

A fee between £12m and £15m will get a deal done for the 37-time Wales star as per the report. It is a fee that would see Spurs get their outlay back on Rodon – but, given his form for Leeds, he is worth it.

New twist emerges in Leeds United pursuit of Joe Rodon deal

While Rodon would be happy to join whether we’re in the Premier League or the Championship – Leeds may need the financial push of the Premier League to be able to get a deal done for the Wales star.

Warranting an eight-figure spend on a central defender is difficult to justify when in the second tier, with Financial Fairplay rules as strict as ever in the Championship. The Premier League offers more freedom.

Leeds need to sign Rodon and should fight tooth and nail to get a deal done. Whether or not we can push a move over the line remains to be seen – but Rodon is seemingly keen on joining us, regardless.
