Leeds reportedly in talks to sign £13m player and he’s just scored the winner last night

Kerem Akturkoglu is the latest name to be linked with a move to Leeds United with the Galatasaray ace starring this season – and on Wednesday night, he scored the winner in a win over Karagumruk.

Akturkoglu, 25, has been on fire this season. On Wednesday night, he scored his eighth goal of the 23-24, taking his tally to 16 goal involvements in 28 games. Two goals scored against Manchester United.

Leeds do have options in attack – but Akturkoglu could be the no.10 that Leeds need to come in and take some of the heat off of Joel Piroe. Leeds did try to sign a player for that position in the summer.

This week, it was claimed that talks have been ‘frequent’ over the last two weeks between Leeds and Galatasaray, but the latter do not want to sell. Lazio are also keen. He has a contract until June 2026.

It is believed Akturkoglu would cost £13m, and if Leeds are unable to sign him in January – they will retain an interest until the summer. On Wednesday night, Akturkoglu continued his wonderful form.

A long-range shot from Kerem Demirbay was parried by the Karamgumruk goalkeeper, and Akturkoglu was on hand to flick the rebound into the net. The first to react as Galatasaray held on to win 1-0.

A brilliant finish and more reason for Leeds to try and test Galatasaray’s resolve in the winter window, but perhaps another reason why they will want to keep him. He’s the bright spark in a star-studded side.

In a side that includes Mauro Icardi, Wilf Zaha, Hakim Ziyech, Lucas Torreira and more – it is the Leeds target that is shining. It looks as if Galatasaray will win the battle to keep him as things currently stand.
