The last two years have felt a whole lot longer than that, but Leeds United are back in the Premier League as Champions of the Championship after Manor Solomon’s late winner in Plymouth.
On-loan Tottenham winger Solomon took his tally to 23 goals and assists for the season, and eight in his last six games with an injury-time winner to take Leeds to the top of the Championship table yesterday.
Leeds had to match Burnley’s result and Scott Parker’s men going 33 games unbeaten with a 3-1 home win over Millwall, it meant Leeds had to beat Plymouth. They came from behind to secure a huge win.
Everywhere in this Leeds side, there are players that have played key roles. Jayden Bogle, Joe Rodon, Junior Firpo, Ao Tanaka, Solomon, Joel Piroe have all arguably produced the best form of their careers.
Dan James posts on Instagram as Leeds secure Championship title
Stuart Dallas believes Dan James as been Leeds’ best player this season, with the speed-machine one of three Championship players nominated for the Player of the Year award – eventually losing to Gus Hamer.
James was alongside James Debayo, Pascal Struijk and Joe Rothwell watching Saturday’s win in the away end on Saturday, given he is injured. Following the win, James posted a celebratory post on Instagram.
The winger finishes the season with stats of 21 goals and assists in 36 Championship appearances. But it is James’ work rate, his relationship with Jayden Bogle and his speed that have proved crucial for Leeds.

Plenty of praise for Leeds, their players and the work Daniel Farke has done as manager has come in since Leeds clocked up 100 points – the most Leeds have ever managed in one season in the club’s history.
Even on James’ post, there were plenty of plaudits for a player that has endured a tumultuous time over the last four seasons – one of which was spent out on loan. Nemanja Matic said “congratulations speedy”.
Plenty of others responded including other former teammates like Leeds legend Luke Ayling, as well as old Elland Road stars Leif Davis and Sam Greenwood. James is likely to be offered a new Leeds deal soon.
