Neil Warnock says what Daniel Farke will do behind Leeds United scenes now, after losing to Portsmouth

Daniel Farke will be bitterly disappointed that not only have his Leeds United suffered their fourth loss of the season, but discarded their 17-game unbeaten run at Fratton Park on Sunday.

It is hard to believe that this Leeds side managed to produce the performances they did to beat Sheffield United and Sunderland, but also could only do what they did on Sunday afternoon against Portsmouth.

Jekyll and Hyde differences between the two versions of Leeds. They did create chances, but they looked like they were a bunch of technically-gifted youngsters, facing hardened-old Championship know-it-alls.

One of those hardened-old Championship know-it-alls predicted what Farke would do in the immediate aftermath of the defeat to Portsmouth, in the form of Neil Warnock. Leeds are in action on Wednesday.

Neil Warnock predicts what Daniel Farke will do after Leeds loss

Farke is now in a precarious position. There is pressure from supporters to get the job done, knowledge that he will be sacked if not promoted and the memory of Leeds falling off towards the end of 2023-24.

He will be desperate for Leeds to avoid the same drop-off that forced Leeds into the play-offs last season, instead of a top-two finish. Warnock told Sky Sports how Farke will respond behind the Leeds scenes.

“I don’t think Daniel will worry too much about today. Yeah, he’ll be disappointed in this. But they create some great chances, he knows the winning goal was a mistake really from their point of view,” he said.

“He’ll just get on with the next game because you can’t dwell too long in the Championship. Next day you’re setting up for the following game. He’ll put it to bed tonight and get on with it,” Warnock added.

What are Farke’s options ahead of Wednesday clash vs Millwall

Leeds take on Millwall on Wednesday night at Elland Road. Farke could easily lay into his players after a performance such as the one at Fratton Park, but that risks a bad reaction from his Leeds United players.

Plus, it is not his style. Farke is cool, calm and collected often in front of the cameras and according to his players. The German gaffer does not get too high after wins, but remains composed following defeats.

Whether he can do that after Sunday’s loss remains to be seen but he will know that Leeds were always going to lose one or two of the remaining 11 matches going into Sunday. Dust it off, on to the next.
