Daniel Farke says which Leeds United player was feeling the ‘most-disappointed’ after Portsmouth

It was a dismal showing from Leeds United that has left their push for promotion on a knife-edge going into a spell two games in the next five days, and the Leeds squad are disappointed.

Daniel Farke’s Leeds went 17 games unbeaten last weekend when they drew with West Brom but there were a few signs that showed Farke’s men were somewhat below par, even if it was still a solid result.

West Brom are pushing for the play-offs and looking improved under Tony Mowbray. Portsmouth though, were still in the mix for relegation going into Sunday’s game and Leeds were certainly big favourites.

However, The Whites suffered a 1-0 loss as Colby Bishop scored the only goal of the game. A goal that saw Stuart Dallas and Aidy White disagree on who to blame, with Illan Meslier and Joe Rodon at fault.

However, it was not either Meslier or Rodon that were the “most-disappointed” in the dressing room according to the Leeds manager in his post-match press conference. Indeed, it was striker Joel Piroe.

Piroe had missed two absolute sitters on Sunday afternoon, the first after Nicholas Schmid had a shot parried before blazing Manor Solomon’s pull-back over the bar. Farke said he was very disappointed.

“He’s very self-critical and the most disppointed payer in the dressing room. He has won us many games and scored many goals. Doesn’t need to [feel low]. Yes he missed chances where he should have scored.”

While he might have had a hand in 21 goals going into Sunday’s game, Piroe’s finishing against Portsmouth was nothing short of atrocious. Farke once said Piroe is the Championship’s best finisher.

His season’s form will probably prove the German gaffer right. But Piroe’s shooting in front of goal on Sunday, the opposite. The pressure will now be on Piroe to get back among the goals on Wednesday.

Leeds face a Millwall side that have already beaten Leeds twice this season, before going to Loftus Road to take on QPR. A fixture that saw Leeds’ chances of automatic promotion come to an end, last season.
