Many pundits have written off Leeds United before the season has even started, but the transfer window might have changed their minds.
Daniel Farke will be trying to avoid the ongoing trend of newly-promoted sides facing the drop at their first attempt.
If anyone looks likely to end this miserable record, it’s the Whites, as Leeds could look to spend £150 million this summer.
Farke will know it’s up to him to make something work in the Premier League, as a Leeds formation change could do the trick.
The German boss will be ready for the challenge, and Neil Warnock has explained why the Yorkshire side now have a chance to survive in the division.

Neil Warnock thinks Leeds can stay up after summer transfer business
The task ahead for the Peacocks will be a monumental one, with Troy Deeney backing Leeds to be relegated.
It’s a time for Leeds to prove their doubters wrong, and they can do so, according to Warnock.
Speaking on talkSPORT (29 July, 7:14 am), the iconic manager pointed out the main reason why Farke’s fortunes can turn after his past in the Premier League.
“I think Daniel Farke has always had a rough deal, you know, when he came up with Norwich, they gave him nothing, hardly anything, like £3-4 million, he never complained, he just got on with it, and he got relegated,” Warnock said.
“Now they are supporting him, I think he has got half a chance, you know, Leeds, especially with the backing, the fans, it is a horrible place to go when they are in full flow.
“I think he is a good manager and he has got half a chance.”
As mentioned by the 76-year-old, Elland Road could be the key to Leeds avoiding the drop this campaign.
But the manager’s expertise have to be taken into account as Paraag Marathe clearly trusts Farke to deliver, and it’s fair to say he can’t be too harshly judged after his previous business in transfer windows.

How much each club has backed Leeds United boss Daniel Farke
After a busy summer already, Leeds are just under £30 million from equalling their highest ever spending season of £109.6 million.
Farke can only dream of spending this much money, as this window has easily been his most successful in terms of money spent, and it’s fair to say he hasn’t been backed very well.
| Club | Money spent |
|---|---|
| Leeds United (2023-now) | £111.5m |
| Norwich City (2017-2021) | £91.7m |
| Borussia Mochengladbach (2022-2023) | £20.7m |
Most of that Leeds budget is from this summer, with over £80 million spent so far, so this season will be the chance for the Whites boss to really prove himself.
The fact that across four summers at Norwich, they couldn’t even reach the £100 million mark says it all, as the German shouldn’t be judged for poor backing.
Farke made some average signings at Norwich, but ultimately, due to not having the funds Leeds have now, the Canaries never had a chance.
Now, Warnock believes that the 48-year-old has sufficient backing to compete in the league, and the 49ers spending ‘every last penny’ could be the way forward.
