Nation’s media says Leeds United loanee made ‘far too many passing errors’ despite win in Europe

As Leeds United continue to battle for an escape route out of the Championship, one player who contributed to putting them there were in European action on Thursday night.

The Whites currently have just the five players out on loan this season, several of which have been in action during midweek.

Darko Gyabi struggled in Plymouth Argyle’s 1-0 defeat at Millwall, while Sam Greenwood netted his first Championship goal for Preston North End against Norwich City.

Sonny Perkins was an unused sub for Leyton Orient for the third League One match in a row, with his loan spell going down a similar route to the one at Oxford United last season.

Rasmus Kristensen was the final Leeds player in action during midweek as they hosted Latvian side RFS in the Europa League.

German media verdict on Leeds loanee Kristensen

Kristensen has impressed since joining Frankfurt in the summer and has played all but five of every minute across all competitions so far.

Frankfurt have already decided to sign Kristensen permanently next summer, though may look to lower the previously agreed future purchase option.

Hopefully that is a stance that does not change over the course of the season and that is likely to depend on whether he can remain consistent.

However, despite their 1-0 win over RFS on Thursday night, the Frankfurter Rundschau have criticised the performance of the on-loan Leeds player.

Kristensen is said to have given the ball away too often across the course of the match, even though he came under very little pressure from a defensive point of view.

They wrote: “Rasmus Kristensen: So-So. Often chose to go forward, hardly challenged at the back either. But without a real plan, far too many easy passing errors.”

Kristensen stats for Frankfurt in RFS win

The media rating Kristensen has received is certainly reflected in the statistics, particularly when it comes to on the ball.

Kristensen never looked particularly confident when receiving the ball from his centre-backs at Leeds and perhaps it should come as no surprise he hasn’t really improved in that regard.
