Crysencio Summerville says Leeds United teammate Willy Gnonto is now like his ‘little brother’.

The two have been teammates for around 15 months now and struck up a great relationship both on and off the pitch from almost the minutes Gnonto arrived at Elland Road.

Daniel Farke heaped praise on Gnonto in his press conference on Thursday for his celebration with Summerville for the Dutchman’s goal last week, even though he was on the bench.

And it is not the first time Gnonto has run onto the pitch to celebrate with Summerville while being a substitute, showing the strength of the two players’ relationship.

Speaking in an interview with BBC West Yorkshire Sport, Summerville says he now considers Gnonto as a brother after ‘taking him under his wing’ at Leeds.

He said: “Yeah he is my little brother you know. As soon as he came in I took him under my wing and since then it’s just clicked.

“He came new to Leeds United and I was already here, it’s always difficult to come into a new club and environment. Since then it’s just clicked and he’s like my little brother.”

It did not take long for these two to build up a rapport at Leeds and that was reflected on the pitch last season, with their understanding clear to see.

While they have not necessarily been able to continue that this year due to the form of Dan James, they are always a very exciting duo to watch when they play together.

Either way, Farke is spoilt by having both players at his disposal in this league, with Summerville regarded as ‘unplayable’, and Gnonto still seen as ‘Premier League quality’.
