Max Aarons has broken his silence on turning down a move to Leeds United with a message for Daniel Farke.

Aarons was writing a goodbye message to Norwich City supporters on Twitter after his move to Bournemouth was confirmed last night, dedicating a huge part of it to Farke.

Farke was determined to link up with Aarons again at Leeds and a deal had looked to be on the verge of completion until Bournemouth swooped in at the 11th hour to seal a deal.

A deal of around £9m + add-ons had been agreed between the two clubs, with Aarons even down in Leeds ready to do a medical.

Farke is said to have been a major driving force behind the deal to bring Aarons to Elland Road, but the prospect of Premier League football was clearly too good to turn down.

Aarons spoke of the last few days as being a ‘whirlwind’ for him but displayed his gratitude to Farke for how much belief he has shown in him during his career.

He said: “I want to say the biggest thank you to Daniel Farke, the man who gave me my debut and believed in me. The last few days have been a whirlwind and I’m massively grateful for everything he has done for me and wish him the biggest success moving forward.”

Farke was the man who handed Aarons his first opportunity in the senior side at Norwich back in 2018, with the two going onto win two Championship promotions together.

Aarons ended up becoming one of the most sought after right-backs in the country with both Bayern Munich and Barcelona having been keen on £35 million deals two or three years ago.

The 23-year-old would’ve undoubtedly been an excellent signing for Leeds and linking up with Farke could’ve helped to bring the best out of him again, but unfortunately, it wasn’t to be.
