Leeds United held talks to hire Nuno Espirito Santo following the sacking of Jesse Marsch back in February – and now, he is set to replace Steve Cooper after Nottingham Forest decided to fire him.
Leeds sacked Marsch less than 12 months in charge at Elland Road after, ironically, a 1-0 loss at Forest. Javi Gracia eventually replaced Marsch, after a string of managers were linked with us and held talks.
One of those was Espirito Santo – the former Wolves and Tottenham manager. He has since been doing well in the Middle East, with Saudi Arabian giants Al-Ittihad, before being replaced by Marcelo Gallardo.
Indeed, he won the League last season with Helder Costa in his side. Leeds held talks to bring him in from Al-Ittihad, but it was Gracia that got the gig – lasting less than 20 games before Big Sam came in.
Now, Nuno is without a club – but could be about to return to England for his third Premier League spell. Indeed, BBC Sport report that Forest have sacked Steve Cooper, and Nuno is in talks to replace him.

Nottingham Forest set to hire Nuno after Leeds talks in February
Forest are yet to confirm the sacking of Cooper but an announcement is expected soon. A boss that guided Forest back into the Premier League for the first time in 23 years, and kept them up last term.
But, he has been backed in the transfer window and the club’s owner is renowned for being somewhat impatient. It is believed that he has today, sacked Cooper and Nuno – once a Leeds target – is coming in.
Nuno is renowned for his pragmatic style of play, and speedy counter attack. Whether it is enough to keep Forest in the Premier league come the end of the season remains to be seen. But, Nuno is back.
