Leeds United are one of a number of clubs keen on raiding Liverpool for Fabio Carvalho this month – a player that blew Roberto Firmino away, after he move to Anfield from Fulham back in July 2022.
Carvalho, 21, earned his move to Liverpool 18 months ago after starring for Fulham – having a hand in 20 goals in 44 games for The Cottagers. But in his first season at Liverpool, he managed just 21 outings.
It saw the Portugal sensation go on loan to Leipzig for the 23-24 season. But he started just three of 15 games, an unused sub on 10 occasions in all competitions. He has returned to Liverpool, loan cancelled.
Having not played for Liverpool this term, he is set go on loan again – with Leeds, Southampton and Hull in the race for his signature. New reports today suggest Hull are leading the race to sign Carvalho.
A player that blew Roberto Firmino away, shortly after the Portugal U21 star moved to Liverpool in the summer of 2022. The Brazilian, now in Saudi Arabia, said he had been “impressed” by the young “star”.
“I confess that I had watched some of his games before he came to Liverpool. I was already impressed by the way he played,” Firmino told Liverpool’s official website in 2022. “He’s a star, he’s a great player.
“Now he’s also a very close friend. We are happy to have him here at Liverpool and I know he will help us a lot, with assists, goals and also his character on the pitch,” Firmino continued, discussing Carvalho.

What a signing he would be for us. A player that can play anywhere in the attacking trio behind the striker, whether that be out wide, or as a 10. Leeds still lack a natural no.10 and Carvalho fills that gap.
He is proven in the Championship, and in the Premier League. The kind of technically-gifted, exciting star that you would imagine would shine under the guidance of a manager like Daniel Farke this term.
But, Hull are leading the race and that means Leeds need to get their skates on and make tracks – in order to land Carvalho during the January window. If Leeds get him, he would be a superb addition.
