Leeds United head coach Daniel Farke has explained the likelihood of departures from his squad as he prepares for the January transfer window.
Although Daniel Farke has overseen a recent upturn in results, Leeds’ recovery remains fragile, partly as a result of a lack of depth in their squad.
With Lukas Nmecha set to miss the game against Crystal Palace, Farke will be unable to field his first-choice forward pairing for the third game in a row. Leeds’ squad also remains weakened by the long-term absences of Dan James and Sean Longstaff.
Leeds are expected to be active in the January transfer window, with Ruben Vargas linked with a move to Elland Road in recent days.
Now, as Leeds prepare to face Crystal Palace in the Premier League, Farke has discussed the chances of players being sold in January to facilitate Leeds’ business in the transfer window.

Daniel Farke discusses potential January departures from Leeds United
Speaking in his weekly press conference ahead of the Palace game, Farke explained why he believes it is unlikely that Leeds will see players departing in the January transfer window.
According to Farke, he is reluctant to see any member of his squad leave during the January transfer window, given the intense demands of the Premier League. However, Leeds remain open to opportunities should they present themselves.
Farke said: “It’s professional football, it’s a Premier League, you can’t just be there with players who are playing each and every game 90 minutes, or even with players who are each and every time in the starting line-up.
“Of course, I’m happy with this, and for me, I don’t have any motivation to give one member of our group away in January. It’s a market, and you always have to stay awake. If we can improve, perhaps by making a change, then we should be open to this.
“But all the players who are with us at the moment are strongly in my plans, and I have no other indication.”

Leeds’ failure to sign Harry Wilson in the summer means that Farke was left one short in attack heading into the new season.

Leeds have only made one signing in the January window during Farke’s two and a half years at the club, according to Transfermarkt, when Conor Roberts joined on deadline day in February 2024.
Since then, Josuha Guilavogui was the only other player to sign outside of the summer transfer window under Farke, when he signed as a free agent in October 2024.
