Leeds United may have their work cut out in the summer transfer window if they’re promoted from the Championship this season, which is starting to look increasingly likely.
Leeds United will watch on as the rest of the Championship plays over the weekend, with the Whites not in action until Monday night.
On Friday, Burnley thumped Sheffield Wednesday 4-0 to keep themselves well in the race for automatic promotion. On Saturday, 4th place Sunderland host strugglers Hull City.
But all eyes will be on Leeds’ promotion crunch match against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane on Monday, in what’ll be a fierce battle between 1st place Leeds and the Blades in 2nd.
A win for either side will put them a step closer to the Premier League. But Daniel Farke already seems to have an eye on promotion and on what might be a bit of a summer rebuild, with several players linked with Leeds United of late.
One such name is Norwich City striker Josh Sargent. Sargent was first linked with Leeds United last summer.

Graeme Bailey dissects Leeds United links to Josh Sargent
It’s been claimed that Leeds are still keeping tabs on Sargent at Norwich City. Farke’s former Canaries hitman has enjoyed another strong season in the second tier with nine goals and five assists in 19 Championship appearances so far, with his Norwich side currently sitting in 12th place of the table.
Johannes Hoff Thorup’s side are only five points outside the top six, though. Speaking to Leeds United News, transfer exert Graeme Bailey has revealed how Norwich still fancy their chances of promotion and that, if they do earn promotion, it’ll rule out a Carrow Road exit for Sargent.
Bailey explained: “Many people think that Sargent is the best striker in the Championship, and it’s hard for anyone to argue against that. But Norwich are not ruling out promotion yet, and he won’t be leaving Carrow Road if they do earn promotion. But he is really starting to attract interest from many Premier League clubs.”

What Daniel Farke thinks about Norwich City striker Josh Sargent
Farke was the one who brought Sargent to England back in 2021. The USMNT striker endured a pretty slow start but he’s since found his footing 38 goals in the last three Championship seasons at Norwich.
Speaking earlier in the season, Farke shared his thoughts on Sargent, saying: “[Norwich] want to be offensive and press high. I think they will be looking for a late push into the play-offs. Josh Sargent is back and a top striker in his league. It will be beneficial to for them to have him there.”
Farke knows first hand the quality that Sargent offers. But he won’t come cheap with the 25-year-old still under contract until 2028.
Should Norwich miss out on promotion though then it could be a good time for Sargent to move on to bigger and better, and reuniting with Farke in the Premier League at Leeds would be exactly that.
