Leeds United announced their fourth summer signing on Saturday evening in the form of Jayden Bogle from Sheffield United on a four-year deal, and Leeds have teased Bogle’s old side.

Leeds have addressed their lack of options on the right side of the defence by bringing in 23-year-old Bogle, who was a bright light in Sheffield United’s poor Premier League campaign during 2023-24.

While The Blades were relegated, Bogle still managed to score three league goals against Man City, Chelsea and Man United. His attacking quality is clear, and Leeds have managed to nab his signature.

Despite entering the final year of his contract at Bramall Lane, Sheffield United initially rejected two offers both worth £4m but structured differently. However, Leeds eventually settled on a £5m fee for Bogle.

Sheffield United attempt to appease fans over Bogle sale

A transfer that suits all parties. Bogle was not going to sign a new contract at Sheffield United, and the Blades needed to cash in in order to avoid losing him on a free, even if it means selling to a league rival.

Leeds have sorted their right-back issue after Connor Roberts, Archie Gray, Luke Ayling, Cody Drameh and Jamie Shackleton have all left Elland Road this summer, though the club could still do with another body.

They’ve got Bogle for £5m, perhaps a smaller fee than it would have been had Bogle had longer left on his deal. Sheffield United tried to appease fans by telling them on X, Leeds have paid a “significant” fee.

Leeds respond by teasing Sheffield United after Bogle signing

The former Derby County star has been given the no.2 shirt, a number that Ayling has worn over the years. Ayling became a club legend of the modern era and Bogle will do well to live up to his exploits.

But Leeds fans are excited at the prospect of Bogle, given Daniel Farke’s preference to get his full-backs forward and with Leeds dominating matches, you expect that this Leeds side will suit the attacking star.

In response to Sheffield United’s “significant” post, Leeds posted a “significant” message of their own. They unveiled the number Bogle would be wearing by teasing the Blades after the initial announcement.
