Joe Rodon has been speaking ahead of Leeds United’s clash against Burnley in a Championship clash that could prove crucial for both sides in the race to secure automatic promotion.
The weekend’s results have gone in both Leeds United and Burnley’s favour. Sheffield United were beaten 3-0 by Joe Gelhardt’s Hull at Bramall Lane, which has seen The Whites remain in top spot before tonight.
Then on Saturday, Darko Gyabi laid on an assist for Plymouth in the 90th minute as Argyle secured a 2-2 draw against Sunderland. It leaves Leeds a point above Sheffield United and three ahead of Burnley.
There are four points separating Leeds and Sunderland, now. Chris Wilder spoke about the promotion race after the loss to Hull, while Sunderland manager Regis Le Bris labelled the Championship as “tough”.

Given the results on the weekend, Leeds have the chance to take a big leap towards securing automatic promotion. A win at Burnley would be huge, but Burnley are one of three teams to beat Leeds this term.
The only team to beat Leeds at Elland Road. Daniel Farke has never beaten Burnley in the league in his managerial career, but a win on Monday would see Leeds go four ahead of second and six ahead of third.
Joe Rodon has been speaking ahead of Monday night’s game and was asked if the 1-0 loss to Burnley at the start of the season will be a factor. He responded by saying that Leeds are a different team now.
“It’s been a while since then, that was very early on in the season and I feel like we have improved as a team and we have grown together. There’s a lot of new faces have come in,” Rodon said, talking to LUTV.
“We are on a good path and we are building momentum so we are going to prepare right and get ready for this game. Even after the final whistle on Wednesday, I was already thinking about next Monday.”
The three crucial battles as Leeds take on Burnley tonight
Summer signing Zian Flemming has five goals in eight Championship games up top for Burnley, scoring a brace last time out and it will be on Rodon and Ethan Ampadu to keep the Dutch-born striker quiet.
The right flank is one Leeds fans, and this Leeds squad know well. Jaidon Anthony and Connor Roberts have combined well, and it will be down to Manor Solomon and probably Sam Byram to win that fight.
But the biggest challenge Leeds have will be breaking down this Burnley defence. James Trafford and Burnley have conceded nine goals this season, in 28 games. A quite remarkable achievement this term.
If Leeds can score, then that is achievement enough. But it is going to be a game of small margins, a lack of goals and whoever scores first will surely go on to at least avoid defeat, if not win the game.
