Leeds United’s social media team have sent a hilarious response to the Sky Bet Championship’s official Twitter account after Glen Kamara’s omission from the team of the week.
With Daniel Farke the only member of Leeds’ squad to be included, a reply was sent via Twitter of a clip of Kamara’s post-match interview alongside Georginio Rutter, with just the eyes emoji.
Leeds produced one of the Championship’s biggest performances of the season on Friday night as they put an end to Leicester City’s nine-match winning run with a 1-0 away win.
Rutter was the difference between the two sides on the night thanks to his 58th minute goal, but it was Kamara’s performance that really won the plaudits.
Kamara was handed the man of the match award by Sky Sports as he produced a superb display in midfield, which was arguably his best since moving from Rangers in August.
Leeds’ response to Kamara TOTW omission
In a game where the likes of Harry Winks, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Ethan Ampadu was the topic of much of the build-up, it was Kamara who out shone them all.
Particularly in the first half, his ability to keep the ball under pressure was vital to Leeds’ success, whether that was by using his body or dribbling, Leicester couldn’t really get near him.
While the team of the weeks are powered by WhoScored ratings, it is a surprise that not a single player from Leeds’ side made it in given the nature of the opposition.
In fact, Leicester actually had more players in there, with right-winger Abdul Fatawu being selected after an impressive first half showing.
With all that said, it is unlikely that Leeds will be paying much notice at all to those sort of things and they will now already be focusing on Saturday’s match with Plymouth Argyle.
