The Championship have announced their Team of the Week – but only included one Leeds United man in their side despite our stunning win over Leicester City, in the form of manager Daniel Farke.
Leeds produced one of their best displays of the season to beat league leaders Leicester on Friday, a 1-0 win over the Foxes. Leicester had won 13 of 14 League games going into the clash at the King Power.
Georginio Rutter scored his third goal of the season, his eighth involvement so far. But there were some excellent performances all over the pitch. Archie Gray at right-back, Glen Kamara in central midfield.
Indeed, the Fin won the man of the match award among Leeds fans on Twitter. Rutter, Cree Summerville, Dan James and others were also strong in attack. Illan Meslier got a clean sheet, and obviously, his save.
But the Championship’s official Twitter announced their team of the week on Monday, and only included Farke. Interestingly, Leicester’s Abdul Fatawu was included in the TOTW. He hit Meslier’s cross bar.
Only one Leeds United man in Championship team of the week
While Fatawu was good, to have a Leicester player in the side and no Leeds players is quite bizarre. Kamara, Rutter or Meslier certainly deserved to be in the Team this week, judging by their displays.
Farke does get his praise and rightly so, to take a Leeds side to Leicester and not only play the way we did, but get the win and a clean sheet. The team includes two Blackburn players and two Plymouth men.
Blackburn eased past Norwich on Sunday, Sammie Szomodics getting in after his brace. Plymouth drew with Middlesbrough, 3-3. A game in which Sam Greenwood scored and won a penalty. A strange one.
