Leeds United player shares what Daniel Farke has told him about his lack of game time since Elland Road return

Leeds United manager Daniel Farke has been pretty consistent when selecting his starting XI this season, the only changes he has really made have been enforced.

Saturday actually saw Farke make a couple of unforced changes for the first time, bringing in Mateo Joseph and Manor Solomon for Joel Piroe and Dan James. Sam Byram replaced suspended Junior Firpo.

At centre-back, Joe Rodon and Pascal Struijk have been consistent. The duo have started all 15 league games for Farke, helping Leeds clock up an impressive nine clean sheets and conceding only nine times.

Struijk and Rodon have been immense, while Illan Meslier has his critics but sits top of the clean sheet rankings. It has left Max Wober sitting on the bench, despite playing at a much higher level in the past.

Max Wober tells Austrian media what Daniel Farke has said

Indeed, Wober has not yet played in the Championship this season, starting only one game – the 3-0 loss to Middlesbrough in the Carabao Cup. Injury has played a part, suffering knee and hamstring problems.

But Wober is fit and has been called up to Austria’s National Team for the November break, with manager Ralf Rangnick saying he has little other options than Wober. Now, Wober has discussed his game time.

He told Kurier: “Things are going well in Leeds, I understand from the coach there’s no reason to change anything. I have to remain patient.” Asked if he needs to replace Struijk, Wober said: “That is the goal”.

What does the future hold for Max Wober at Leeds?

He left Leeds to go on loan to Gladbach because Wober wanted to solidify his place at Euro 2024. He did that and it worked, but Wober will know that he cannot go on much longer being on the bench at Leeds.

He is a better player than that. One that has played in the Champions League, and in the top tier. Wober was in the Bundesliga last season and the Austrian did well, becoming a regular for mid-table Gladbach.

Galatasaray have shown interest in Wober and when January comes around again, it is likely Wober will be open to a move because as things stand, Wober is not going to play unless there is a new injury.
