The summer transfer window is going to be an exciting one for Leeds United with many speculating and suggesting that they will have to outspend the likes of Southampton, Leicester and Ipswich.
The trio of clubs spent a combined £300m on new signings during the 2024-25 season but all three have failed to stay up. There are other reasons for this, but the main reason for it is poor investment this term.
The signings made were simply not good enough to keep the trio of clubs in the Premier League. Now, Leeds are tasked with trying to avoid relegation next season and this summer will prove absolutely key.
Adam Pope expects more than £100m to be spent on six major signings, while The 49ers want six new additions. But they will have to spend a whole lot more if they are keen on Junior Firpo’s dream buy.

Junior Firpo wants Leeds United to sign Neymar from Santos
Obviously, a bit tongue in cheek from the Leeds United left-back but when asked by Spanish newspaper Marca who he would like The 49ers to sign this summer, he responded by saying Brazilian icon Neymar.
Neymar has just returned to his home country after an injury-riddled stint in Saudi Arabia with Al-Hilal. Neymar is also currently injured, recently suffering a hamstring injury just 11 games after his return.
Speaking to Marca, Firpo was asked who he would like to sign if he was in The 49ers’ position and given the chance to sign anyone in world football. He responded: “If I could, I would sign Neymar for Leeds.”
What do Leeds need to sign in the upcoming window?
It is quite obvious what Leeds. Phil Hay thinks Illan Meslier is done at Leeds and a replacement between the sticks is required. Leeds have been linked with plenty of stoppers, most-recently Sam Johnstone.
Cover in central defence is key, even if Ethan Ampadu starts to play as a centre-back more than he does in midfield. If Firpo departs with his contract ending in June, then a left-back or two will be required.
More depth in midfield with Ampadu seemingly playing better in defence than midfield. Two new bodies in the middle will be key, while a better option than Brenden Aaronson in the 10 role will be a priority.
Finally, Leeds need a better striker than Joel Piroe. The Dutchman has scored 19 goals and sits at the top of the goalscoring rankings in the Championship – but before Stoke, went nine games without a goal.
