Leeds needed to win in order to return to first place and stave off the threat of Burnley, who were away at Stoke. The 1-0 loss at Ewood Park was compounded by Burnley’s 2-0 win over Stoke later on on Saturday.

Joe Rodon teased by Blackburn on Tik Tok following Leeds loss

Leeds cannot afford an intermittent run during Christmas period
Last season, Leeds were on the same points as this season after 18 games. Both seasons, Leeds had 10 wins, five draws and three losses and had scored 31 goals – but this time, Leeds have conceded five less.
Not just that, but Leeds are three points behind leaders Sheffield United – whereas last season, the gap was eight points to Leicester. So, Leeds are well-positioned to push for promotion in the top two places.
The Christmas period can often be where clubs win or lose their promotion momentum and with six to play, Leeds will be hoping for maximum points to pile the pressure. Leeds have got to beat Derby.
