Leeds United now want to sign player who was once hailed as one of the best youngsters in his position

Leeds United are on the lookout for some Premier League loans before the end of the window.

Angus Kinnear confirmed as early as September that it would be the market Leeds are putting their focus towards, with three loan spots still open following Djed Spence’s abrupt return to Tottenham.

A creative attacker, both full-back positions and potentially even central defence if Charlie Cresswell leaves are Leeds’ main priorities this month, with a new target having emerged today at right-back.

Leeds are said to be considering a move for Liverpool’s Calvin Ramsay, a player the Whites had been interested in all the way back in the summer of 2022, before he chose Anfield.

Ramsay had just enjoyed a superb first proper season in the Aberdeen first team side. Around halfway through that campaign, Don’s chairman Dave Cormack told the Scottish Daily Express that Ramsay is one of the best young right-backs in Europe.

Ramsay lost his way since Liverpool move

He said: “He has a nice family and is a lovely kid. He looks after himself and keeps his feet on the ground. There are not many right back at his age like him, doing what he does. Look at the data and all the clubs look at the same (scouting) systems.

“He is in the elite upper bracket, right up there, for a young right-back in Europe. People are seeing that and that is why we believe there will be a lot of interest, although we have not had a call from anybody yet.”

Ramsay is yet to really fulfil the potential he showed at Aberdeen, where he registered nine assists during his 39 appearances for the club.

Since leaving, he has played just four senior matches, half of which came during a loan spell at Preston North End earlier this season. He has now been recalled from Deepdale and could leave on loan again.

Game time could be exactly what Ramsay needs to find the form he showed at Aberdeen but Leeds aren’t really in a position where they can afford to sign players who need time. Anyone who comes in, will be required to make an instant impact.
