Leeds United are reportedly interested in a move for FK Haugesund striker Sory Ibrahim Diarra.
The Whites, along with Serie A side Salernitana are both said to be keen on signing the 23-year-old ahea of the January transfer window following his impressive form.
Diarra has eight goals in 25 matches for the Norwegian side so far this season having moved from Romanian side Petrolul back in February.
According to Mali Actu, both Leeds and Salernitana are ‘positioning themselves’ to make their move, with the player’s agent Amadou Konte confirming the interest in his client, all be it without naming the said clubs specifically.
He said: “Several clubs and directors have indeed contacted me but to date we are only at the talks stage.” Diarra has a contract until 2026 at FK Haugesund and is said to be valued at around the £686,000 mark.
Leeds seemingly in market for young striker
This is not the first young striker Leeds have been linked with over the last few weeks, with AFC Wimbledon’s Ali Al-Hamadi also said to be on the club’s radar.
Al-Hamadi has been in fine form for Wimbledon so far this season having scored 11 goals and provided six assists across 22 appearances in all competitions.
Whether interest in these two players will go beyond that of scouting remains to be seen, with Daniel Farke having already confirmed Leeds will be in for a quiet January window.
Angus Kinnear has also suggested that loans will make up the bulk of Leeds’ transfer strategy next month as they target automatic promotion, meaning neither Diarra or Al-Hamadi fit the bill.
However, that could change if Leeds lose someone like Joe Gelhardt, who has struggled to even get on the bench as of late and is therefore in need of some regular game time.
