Leeds United loan watch: 26-year-old earns praise as £10m defender endures tough start

Leeds United currently have 10 players out on loan this season.

Following relegation to the Championship, Leeds saw several members of last year’s first team squad trigger loan clauses in their contract to earn them moves back to some of Europe’s top leagues.

Leeds have also provided a handful of youngsters the opportunity to go out and play regularly, too, with Daniel Farke potentially seeing a long-term future for some of them.

It has certainly been a mixed bag for those who departed temporarily during the window, with some winning numerous plaudits, and others really struggling.

So, with the first international break upon us, here is a summary of how they have got on so far.

Rasmus Kristensen

It was a real surprise to see Jose Mourinho want to take Kristensen to Roma, but what is not a surprise is how he has performed. A comical own goal in pre-season has really set the tone for his time in Italy so far, with it taking just three matches to see him relegated to the bench having cost Leeds £10m last summer.

Diego Llorente

Alongside Kristensen at Roma, Llorente is having a slightly better time of it, producing a nice assist in the opening day draw with Salernitana.

Robin Koch

Has played every minute of every game so far at Eintracht Frankfurt, who are unbeaten so far this season. Was said to have had a tough time in the 1-1 draw at Mainz, though.

Max Wober

Has started all three matches for Borussia Monchengladbach, who currently have the joint second worst defensive record in the Bundesliga. One point from three matches sees them in the relegation play-off spot.

Brenden Aaronson

Aaronson was sent off in his second appearance for the club means he has only really played one match so far, in which he was decent as Union Berlin defeated Mainz 4-1.

Marc Roca

Roca is winning plenty of plaudits from the Spanish press for his performances at Real Betis so far. It wouldn’t be a surprise if Betis make his move permanent before long.

Jack Harrison

Yet to play for Everton as he continues his recovery from injury.

Luis Sinisterra

Only joined Bournemouth on deadline day so will have to wait until after the international break for his debut.

Cody Drameh

Was thrown straight into the starting XI following his loan move to Birmingham City, enduring a tough debut individually as they drew 1-1 with Millwall.

Sam Greenwood

Came off the bench for the final half-an-hour of Middlesbrough’s 2-0 home defeat to QPR. Greenwood will be hoping to have an impact after the break as Boro currently sit bottom of the league.

Sonny Perkins

Made his Oxford United debut very late on from the bench in a 2-1 home defeat to Port Vale in which his side were reduced to nine men.
