Leeds United need every bit of quality and firepower they can get for the Championship run-in. Now, Daniel Farke may have unearthed a new weapon in the promotion race.

Leeds United are going good in the Championship right now. The Whites are unbeaten in their last 13 league fixtures having beaten Coventry City 2-0 in their last outing.

What’s arguably more impressive is that Daniel Farke’s side have kept clean sheets in their last five league games, scoring 14 along the way as well. As things stand, Leeds sit in 1st place of the Championship table and boast a two point lead over Sheffield United in 2nd, and a five point lead over Burnley in 3rd.

Last time out was disappointing though. Leeds were beaten 2-0 by Millwall in the FA Cup as Farke made 10 changes to the XI that beat Coventry. Though there was one positive from the game: Sam Chambers.

Adam Pope thinks Sam Chambers can play a role in Leeds United run-in

Leeds United fans were impressed by Chambers on what was his first senior start for the club. The 17-year-old academy man started on the right and was arguably Leeds’ best player on the day, looking lively and full of confidence.

Having featured just once in the Championship this season, off the bench against Plymouth earlier in the campaign, many are now wondering whether Chambers could soon become a regular feature for Farke in the league.

Speaking on Don’t Go To Bed Just Yet, BBC pundit Adam Pope has suggested that Farke would have no hesitation in playing Chambers in the Championship now.

He said: “He’s tall, is Chambers, and I think he offers something different, but very much a winger, I would say, and he beat his man well and he came inside and created that chance.”

Pope went on to add: “He has been in the matchday squad. But looking at that performance; if anybody drops off in those wingers, no hesitation. I thought he had a very good game. He was my big, big bonus out of the day… There’s a player there.”

What Daniel Farke said about Sam Chambers after Millwall

Leeds fans weren’t the only ones impressed with Chambers over the weekend, with Farke also singing his praises. Speaking after the game, Farke gave his verdict on Chambers, saying: “A player has to adapt to physicality to Championship side.

“I liked a lot in training his interesting positions – usually scores 10/10. He has this quality. It was a big day for him and a solid performance. We have a promising young man.”

Expect Chambers to feature on the bench more so now after his Millwall showing. And like Pope suggests, if one of the likes of Dan James or Manor Solomon start to slow down then Chambers could come in and provide some added competition.

It’s certainly an exciting time for Chambers who’ll be relishing the chance to play some regular Championship football for the Whites, who are next in action against Watford at Vicarage Road on Tuesday night.
