Leeds United forced to wait until February before new appointment, only left West Ham in summer

Jordan Miles is the latest name to be linked with a move to Leeds United’s transfer department and now, reports north of the border state Aberdeen’s Miles is on his way to Leeds – but there is a catch.

Miles, 33, left West Ham after seven years in the summer to join Aberdeen – taking up the position as head of recruitment with the Premiership side. That is, after a range of different roles with West Ham.

A match analyst, scout and a video analyst. But he’s now impressed in his most-recent role at Pittodrie and caught the eye of Leeds, despite only being at Aberdeen for six months. Links emerged last month.

Now, Football Scotland deliver an update. Leeds already boast Nick Hammond until at least the end of the season, and former Bolton Wanderers defender Gretar Steinsson – the latter joining from Tottenham.

They are set to add Miles to the club. But, two conditions. The Whites will have to pay a compensation fee to bring Miles to Elland Road. Also, we will have to wait until after January – despite Leeds’ wishes.

Leeds wanted to bring in Miles to work in the January window, with the Whites expected to be busy having waved goodbye to Djed Spence – and still needing a left-back and a no.10. But, Miles will stay.

For January, anyway. After the winter window, he will move to Yorkshire and work alongside Hammond and Steinsson. A new-look way of doing things, after the one-man army of Victor Orta that failed.

Leeds, perhaps coincidentally, are being linked with a player at Aberdeen in the form of striker Duk. It could be that bringing in Miles may aid a possible move for the Dons star, in the coming weeks.
