Leeds United and Burnley proved to be the best two teams in the Championship in 2024/25. In the end, only goal difference separated the two.
Both Leeds United and Burnley will harbour a lot of respect for the other after their impressive 2024/25 campaigns in the Championship.
For a long time Leeds were the runaway leaders. But Burnley proved formidable title rivals in the end with Scott Parker guiding his side to a remarkable 33-game unbeaten run to finish level on 100 points with the Whites.
But Leeds United won the Championship title after beating Plymouth Argyle 2-1 on the final day of the season, owing to a late winner from Spurs loan hero Manor Solomon.
And Leeds United are working on a deal to sign Solomon this summer. Daniel Farke is likely working on a number of deals right now and there’s been a handful of Burnley players linked with a move to Elland Road since the start of the 2024/25 season too.

Leeds United could still sign Josh Brownhill ahead of Burnley contract expiry
One name mentioned alongside the Whites is Josh Brownhill. The former Bristol City midfielder is out of contract this summer and Leeds United have been linked with Brownhill throughout the season. There’s also been previous Premier League links for the 29-year-old with West Ham linked with Brownhill ahead of the summer.
On Tuesday, Burnley revealed their retained list. Parker’s side are signing four of their loan players on permanent deals following promotions, whilst the club is yet to come to an agreement with Brownhill who may well be weighing up his options ahead of the summer transfer window.
Burnley write that ‘discussions remain ongoing’ with Brownhill ahead of the summer. For Leeds United, it could be an opportunity to swoop for the midfielder.
Josh Brownhill’s incredible stats in 2024/25
It might make sense for Brownhill to weigh up his options this summer because he’s just capped a pretty incredible 2024/25 season with Burnley, and there might be a chance to move to a more established Premier League club.
The Englishman has enjoyed his best scoring season by far after netting 18 goals in 42 Championship games from midfield, also notching six assists. In the end, only Golden Boot winner Joel Piroe scored more Championship goals than Brownhill in 2024/25.
| Stat (Champ.) | Brownhill in 24/25 |
| Games | 42 |
| Goals | 18 |
| Assists | 6 |
| Minutes | 3480 |
| Mins PG | 193.3 |
For Brownhill though, leaving Burnley for Leeds United might not be what he’s after next. If he does leave Burnley then he’d surely want to move to a mid-table Premier League club than a newly-promoted one, or even consider his options abroad.
But he’s someone who Farke has tracked for a while now and if there’s a chance to tempt him to West Yorkshire, it could be a shrewd move.
