Leeds United considered making a shock approach to Nottingham Forest for manager Steve Cooper in the summer.
Cooper has just been sacked from his position as Forest boss after a run of one win in 13 matches left them 17th in the Premier League table, with former Leeds target Nuno Espirito Santo set to replace him.
The 44-year-old had been in charge at the City Ground for just over two years, taking them from the bottom of the Championship upon his arrival, to a second season in the Premier League.
However, according to the Athletic, Leeds were considering whether to make a surprise move to appoint him in the summer, having just been relegated to the Championship.
It would appear that Leeds never actually firmed up their initial interest, but there were reportedly people at Elland Road who thought it would be ‘worth asking the question’.
Leeds appointed Farke after Cooper consideration
Cooper would’ve represented a good appointment at Championship level, having guided Swansea City to a play-off final in his senior management role, before going one better at Forest.
His Forest side were then able to just about pip Leeds to survival last season, but despite bringing in some quality players in the summer, are again languishing near the bottom of the table.

Having played an attractive brand of football in the Championship, Cooper has certainly adapted tactically since being in the Premier League, with Forest way more pragmatic towards the end of his spell.
But following a long drawn out process in the summer, Leeds opted to appoint Championship promotion winning expert Daniel Farke, ahead of the likes of Scott Parker and Patrick Vieira.
Farke has Leeds sat third in the table as the halfway point of the season approaches, but are a considerable distance off the top two Leicester City and Ipswich Town.
