Ray Parlour has given his verdict on Leeds United-owned forward Sam Greenwood.
Greenwood is now on loan at Middlesbrough, and talkSPORT pundit and former Arsenal star Parlour has been impressed.
So, what has Ray Parlour said about Leeds United-owned Middlesbrough forward Sam Greenwood? Let’s take a look.
What’s the story?
Well, former Middlesbrough midfielder Ray Parlour has been speaking highly of Sam Greenwood.
Greenwood joined Middlesbrough on loan from Championship rivals Leeds United in the summer of 2023.
The 21-year-old, who can operate as an attacking midfielder or as a forward, has established himself as an important player in Michael Carrick’s team.
The attacker has made seven starts and four substitute appearances in the Championship for Boro this season. Greenwood has scored four goals in those games and has impressed Leeds United defender Liam Cooper among others.
The Northern Echo quotes Parlour as saying about Greenwood: “That winning goal against Leicester was outstanding – Sam Greenwood is a massive talent and if he keeps taking free-kicks like that, then Boro have a superb weapon when it comes to set-pieces.
“He is a key player for Boro and I’ll be keeping a close eye on his development – consistency is important for young players and I’m sure he will continue to play at a high level.”
Sam Greenwood could leave Leeds United for good
I believe that there is a very good chance that Sam Greenwood could leave Leeds United for good in the summer of 2024.
First of all, Leeds decided to send Greenwood out on loan to another club in the Championship.

If Leeds head coach Daniel Farke really thought that the 21-year-old could help his team win promotion to the Premier League, then he would have made sure that the former Arsenal prospect stayed at Elland Road.
Moreover, Middlesbrough have the option to make Greenwood’s loan deal permanent in the summer of 2024.
According to The Athletic, Boro need to pay Leeds just £1.5 million for the youngster.
Of course, Greenwood himself would have to accept to stay at the Riverside Stadium, but I personally think that he would prefer to continue to Boro to going back to Leeds, especially if Michael Carrick’s side won promotion to the Premier League.
