Leeds United remain in the running to sign Bayern Munich goalkeeper Alexander Nubel.
That is according to Sky in Germany, who report Leeds are yet to make an offer for Nubel but are still keen on bringing him to Elland Road this summer.
Stuttgart still remain the front runners for Nubel’s signature having submitted a second loan bid of just under £1 million for the 26-year-old yesterday.
Bayern are yet to make a decision on whether to accept the offer, with the Bundesliga champions reportedly preferring to sell him on a permanent basis.
Providing Leeds do make an offer, that could hand the Whites the upper hand as they are said to be willing to meet Bayern’s asking price of £6.8 million.
Leeds remain in hunt for Bayern’s Nubel
As per reports in Germany, Nubel’s preference is to remain in the Bundesliga with Stuttgart, but unless they come up with a suitable offer, Leeds could be an option.
It is set to be a pivotal few days for Leeds in the hunt for a new goalkeeper with Phil Hay reporting that is their next priority after completing the signing of Ethan Ampadu.
It is likely a decision will be made on Nubel’s future before the end of the week, while the future of alternative target Karl Darlow could also be decided soon.
Darlow is currently in the US on tour with Newcastle United but is said to have held talks with Bournemouth yesterday.
With that in mind, Leeds may need to have other irons in the fire given there is still a possibility they lose out on both of their first choice targets.
