Leeds now want to sign 27-year-old attacker in January, Marcelo Bielsa is a ‘huge fan’

Leeds United are reportedly set to reignite their interest in Fenerbahce winger Ryan Kent in January.

Kent has been linked with a move to Elland Road several times in the past and Team Talk now report that Leeds are set to battle it out with Bournemouth once again for the 27-year-old.

Under Marcelo Bielsa, Leeds spent numerous transfer windows chasing Kent’s signature with both the Argentine and Victor Orta aligned in their opinions on the player.

Back in 2020, Leeds made a £10 million offer to sign Kent from Rangers, with Bielsa having been regarded as a ‘huge fan’ of his throughout his time in charge of the club, as per the Scottish Sun.

Despite Leeds‘ frequent pursuits of him, Kent always ended up staying at Rangers until in the summer, when he joined Fenerbahce on a free transfer upon the expiration of his contract.

Leeds are set to battle Bournemouth for Kent

Kent has been in Turkey for a matter of months but it was reported as early as October that he would be allowed to leave Fenerbahce in January.

Fenerbahce are set to listen to both permanent and loan with an option-to-buy for the former Liverpool winger, who has started just one league game all season, which came on the opening day.

It is said that Leeds will once again be battling with Bournemouth to win the race for Kent, something which the two clubs are not too unfamiliar with following recent months.

Bournemouth signed both Tyler Adams and Luis Sinisterra from Leeds in the summer, and also hijacked a deal for Norwich City’s Max Aarons at the 11th hour. Manager Andoni Iraola was also wanted by Leeds in February.

Whether Kent is the type of player Leeds need in January given how strong their current wide options are remains to be seen, but one thing is for sure, he is available.
