Player Orta wanted at Leeds in 2020 could already be on the move, months after joining new club

Former Leeds United target Ryan Kent could already be on his way out of Fenerbahce, just months after his arrival at the club.

That is according to Team Talk, who report a number of lower Premier League sides are keeping tabs on his situation, with Kent ‘seemingly regretting’ his move to Turkey.

Kent has made five league appearances for Fenerbahce so far, though only one of those have come from the start, which was on the opening day of the season.

The 26-year-old left Rangers as a free agent in the summer and was not short of suitors from across Europe, but Fener were able to offer him the best contract.

However, Kent is already considering his future amid the lack of game time, though it remains to be seen whether his reputation as a player remains intact after such a difficult start to the season.

Orta target Kent could be on the move again

Victor Orta spent a number of years chasing Kent during his time as sporting director at Leeds, with Marcelo Bielsa also having reportedly been a fan of the player.

The most concrete interest from Leeds came in 2020 immediately after promotion to the Premier League, with Steven Gerrard confirming the Whites had a bid rejected.

As per the Sun, Leeds were then willing to pay £15 million for Kent the following summer, a deal which looking back, would’ve represented some really poor business.

There is no doubt Kent enjoyed a decent time of it at Ibrox under Gerrard but his numbers in a division of the quality of the Scottish Premiership were never overly convincing.

This has been reflected in how Kent has gone onto perform in the Turkish Super Lig, a division still not particularly strong, but certainly an upgrade from Scotland’s top tier.

It is also another damning indictment on the quality of Orta’s at Leeds, with him spending so long chasing a player whose ability to perform in the Premier League was not yet proven.
