Leeds United are reportedly interested in raiding Bournemouth to sign winger David Brooks on loan in January – and the likes of Dan James and Ethan Ampadu can help us land the exciting attacker.
Brooks, 26, has been heavily involved for Bournemouth this season. Playing 14 times in all competitions, the Wales star is fit again and back to his best after a difficult couple of years, having developed cancer.
Reports on Friday claim that Leeds and Southampton are interested in signing Brooks on loan from the Vitality Stadium – with the January window just around the corner. Brooks is a top player at this level.
In the past, he has had a hand in 20 goals in 69 Championship outings and in what looks to be a hotly contested race for the top two – with Southampton now third ahead of Leeds – he would be a big boost.
But surely, Leeds have the best chance of landing Brooks ahead of Southampton – and that is because of the presence of three Wales teammates, in the form of Joe Rodon, Dan James and Ethan Ampadu.
Why Leeds have best chance of signing David Brooks in January
Southampton would be a wonderful move for Brooks, but so would Leeds. Both clubs playing attractive football that would suit Brooks, who has been described as a “match winner” by Chris Wilder in the past.
But which club would he prefer to join? Surely, a side where he knows three of the players well in the form of Ampadu, Rodon and James – his Wales teammates. We are surely front runners for his signing.
Leeds of course, have a need for a no.10 – after failing to sign the likes of Matt O’Riley or Nadiem Amiri. Joel Piroe is good, but has been up and down in terms of form. Brooks would improve those options.
And we have the best chance of getting him because of the presence of our three Wales stars. They have got to be on the phone, trying to convince Brooks to sign on. A tool Southampton do not boast.
