Leeds United have been handed another potential boost in the race for Swansea City’s Joel Piroe with Leicester City set to sign a striker.
According to Fabrizio Romano, The Foxes are hopeful of getting a deal done for Stephy Mavididi today, as negotiations are now at an advanced stage with Montpellier.
Mavididi would become the fourth striker at Leicester’s disposal heading into the new season with Jamie Vardy, Kelechi Iheanacho and Patson Daka all still at the club.
While there is a chance at least one of that trio leaves, there has been nothing to suggest anything is advanced yet, which could potentially cool their interest in Piroe.
This is the second boost to Leeds’ hopes of signing Piroe today with Atalanta – who also hold an interest in the 23-year-old – having earmarked Almeria’s El Bilal Toure as their top attacking target.

Atalanta and Leicester have been named as Leeds’ main competitors in the race for Piroe, with the striker expected to leave Swansea this summer.
Piroe has 12 months left to run on his contract in South Wales and has already informed the Swans he will not be signing a new deal.
The Dutchman is also said to have held crunch talks over his future with Swansea’s hierarchy today, in which a key part of the discussions was his valuation.
Leeds appear to have a much clearer run to his signature now amid today’s latest updates if they are indeed keen on firming up their interest.
The Whites will not be able to find a much more proven goalscorer at this level having netted 41 goals across the last two seasons.
