The Mail have claimed in their deadline-day blog (10.07am) that Leeds United are still locked in talks over a move to sign Roma ace Ola Solbakken for £4m – despite interest from Greek giants Olympiakos.
Solbakken, 24, only joined Roma in January from Bodo/Glimt. It comes after having a hand in 44 goals in 91 games for the Norwegian side – scoring against Roma and Celtic in the 2021-22 Conference League.
The Daily Mail said yesterday that Leeds had opened talks over a £4m move, in case Willy Gnonto or Luis Sinisterra leave the club. Both players are being strongly linked with a move to Everton, today.
Sky Italy reporter Gianluca Di Marzio said that Solbakken had agreed a move to Olympiakos after he decided to pick the Greek club. But, The Mail say Leeds remain locked in talks to land the Roma star.
What will be interesting is whether Solbakken is included in Roma’s squad tonight to take on Milan, alongside Rasmus Kristensen and Diego Llorente. He has been included in Roma’s first two matches.

Gnonto seems to be edging towards Everton – with his agent in place in London to strike a deal for the Italy star. So after a summer-long saga that looked as though Gnonto would now stay, he could go.
If so, Leeds need to act quickly and begin to put plans in place. Solbakken would be a very solid man to bring in as his replacement. Especially, as he can play anywhere in attack. Either flank, a 10, or up top.
Solbakken is a Norway international, a player that has impressed in glimpses for Roma and a player that has starred in European competition. For £4m, a bargain – especially, if Leeds get a big fee for Gnonto.
