Leeds United have reportedly opened talks to hire Scott Parker as a replacement for Sam Allardyce with the search for a new manager now hotting up this week – a gaffer that earned praise from Sir Alex Ferguson back in 2021.
Parker, 42, is without a club after an ill-fated spell in charge of Belgian giants Club Brugge – which lasted less than three months and saw him win two of only 12 games. But, Parker has two Championship promotions on his CV.
Initially, he impressed at Fulham and got them back in the Premier League before guiding Bournemouth back to the Premier League for the 2022-23 campaign. But, after falling out with the board, they and Parker parted company.
Leeds have been linked with Brendan Rodgers and Daniel Farke in the last couple of days. However, TalkSPORT say Leeds have opened talks with Parker – despite strong links with the Leicester vacancy. Sir Alex was full of praise.
“[Scott] Parker at Fulham has done a great job,” he told Sport Bible in 2021. “They keep playing their football. They don’t change, don’t panic. They stick with the beliefs of their manager. That’s a great indication of how good he is.”

Is Parker the one that would excite Leeds fans? The positives are that yes, he has two promotions on his CV with Fulham and Bournemouth, and he is a young manager with potential. He has an identity and is a passionate boss.
But, he has struggled at Club Brugge in his last role. He is yet to be proven in the Premier League properly and his fallout with the Bournemouth board shows he needs plenty of cash to spend. Rodgers remains the best option.
