Leeds United are closing in on the signing of Burnley and Wales star Connor Roberts on deadline day and Karl Robinson has given his verdict on the signing – after leaving Elland Road last summer.
Roberts, 28, has been linked with a move for much of the January window and now it looks as if the right-back will end up at Leeds. Phil Hay says he has agreed a move and is travelling to do a medical.
A move is so nailed on, that even Joe Rodon’s brother has been hinting at a move on Twitter – asking Roberts if he fancied a cup of tea before posting a picture of the four Wales stars in Wales training.
So, it looks as if Leeds will finally make a signing before the deadline at 11pm on Thursday. It looks as though Roberts will be the only one through the door at Elland Road – and Robinson has given his take.
“A very good player I think that is good business. Knowing Luke Ayling moving on, Spency went back. One thing Leeds have done really well since Sam left in the summer is that they had a clear plan.
“They knew what they wanted to do. They were precise with the signings they made in the summer. It looks like they are going to continue this window,” Robinson told Sky Sports News (February 1, 4.20PM).

Roberts is a superb signing. A player that Leeds needed and really, the one that had to get done before the deadline. Ben Godfrey would have been superb, but it always seemed unlikely he would join Leeds.
Whether Leeds do any other business in the last six hours remains to be seen. There has been interest in a centre-back – Mason Holgate, Harry Souttar both considered today. That will remain to be seen.
