Leeds United goalkeeper Karl Darlow has opened up on the injury to Dan James, which will rule the pacey winger out for several weeks.
Rumours swirled that the Leeds winger was set to be out for months after picking up an injury in training before Daniel Farke confirmed that the injury was not as serious as first feared.
However, Dan James still faces up to six weeks on the sidelines and was forced to withdraw from the Wales squad for the fixtures against England and Belgium, as well as a run of crucial games in Leeds’ Premier League survival campaign.
Farke will be desperate to get his key forward back to full fitness, having used Brenden Aaronson on the right wing in the absence of James and Italian forward Willy Gnonto in recent games.
Now, James’ Wales teammate Karl Darlow has shared what James is feeling after avoiding the worst case scenario with his injury.

Leeds United star Dan James has received the ‘best prognosis’
Speaking in the press conference ahead of Wales’ game against England on Thursday 9th October, Darlow admitted that James is not happy to be spending a period on the sidelines.
According to Darlow, James is working hard to return to the Leeds line-up as soon as possible after receiving the “best prognosis” available to him.
Darlow said: “He’s obviously not happy about it, but I don’t really know what’s been said in the media; I’ll be completely honest with you. So I don’t really want to go into too many details.
“But it’s not a bad, bad injury. So he’s working on coming back as quickly as possible. It’s a miss for obviously club and country, and he’s one of my best mates.
“So it’s something that wasn’t nice on the day, but it’s probably the best prognosis he could have got after what we originally might have thought it was.”

Leeds are waiting for Dan James to click in the Premier League
James was one of Leeds’ most important players in their run to the Championship title last season, scoring 12 goals and registering nine assists.
However, he has struggled to recapture his best form following Leeds’ return to the top flight, with his injury disrupting his attempts to establish himself as a threat in the Premier League.
Dan James – 25/26 Premier League stats:
- Minutes Played: 216
- Goals: 0
- Assists: 0
- Shots: 5
- Expected Goals: 0.43
James has yet to register a goal or assist for Leeds since their promotion, as he has been limited to just 216 minutes of action according to FotMob.
With his electric pace, James offers a threat that few other players in the Leeds team possess. If he can hit the ground running when he returns to fitness, he could be a real difference maker for Farke.
